Troop 71190 Welcomes Troop 21417

We are happy to have Cadette & Junior Troop 21417
acting as Program Aides for our Troop
at our next meeting on
October 24, 2013.

Girl Scouts offer a variety of Awards to assist girls in developing their roles as leaders and mentors in their respective communities and circle of peers.

The Cadettes and Juniors of Troop 21417 will be leading the Troop Meeting in an effort to earn their Awards, we are so happy that we can help them with this wonderful achievement!

The Juniors will be working towards their Junior Aide Award.  Whereas the Cadette's will initially obtain their Leadership in Action Award and attend a second Troop Meeting in order to obtain their Program Aide Award.

What are these Awards and Badges?  What are there significance to the Girl Scouts?

Junior Aide Award Patch
This award offers girls an opportunity to develop leadership skills as they give service to their
Girl scout troop and the community.  The Junior Aide Award represents active assistance as a Junior Girl Scout, helping Brownie Girl Scouts bridge to Junior Girl Scouting.

Cadette Leadership in Action Award Badges
The LIA is a Mentoring Award given to Cadettes for by mentoring Brownie Girl Scouts through their Leadership Journeys.
Cadette Program Aide Award
The Program Aide experience is the largest teen leadership program for girls in Girl Scouts. Cadettes receive their Program Aide award by earning one Leadership in Action award, completing council-designed leadership course training, and working directly with younger girls. Program Aides are role models for younger girls and are inspired to earn their admiration. Through leadership of young Girl Scouts, teens also develop their peer-leadership and teamwork skills.

It's Your Story - Tell It!

Let's get thinking and brainstorming...

What can we do as a Troop for our selected Journey:
It's Your Story - Tell It!

What kind of Field Trips, Special Events or Outings would you like to partake in?
Animal Shelter, Zoo, Farm, Nature Center, Library, Hiking Adventure, Museum, or Guest Speakers

What kind of Activities are you interested in?
Building a Birdbath, Crafts from Nature, Sustainable Projects, or Family Events

It's Your Story - Tell It! explores many important themes, such as developing a strong sense of self, learning about the benefits of a balanced diet and physical activity, navigating healthy relationships, identifying ways to express yourself, and promoting well-being and confidence in others.

AMUSE!
Think of all the roles a girl may have… as a girl, a student, and a Girl Scout Junior. She may also be a singer, writer, athlete, chef, money manager, tech whiz, painter, fashion stylist—but there’s still so much more to her story! On this Journey, you will guide the girls through the chance to imagine being an Olympic athlete, a jet pilot, a professional dancer, or a crime-solving detective. • She will consider what it would be like to run a fashion magazine, and be the one who decides what clothes to photograph? Along the aMUSE Journey, girls will try on roles to see how these roles might change HER story, make her feel stronger and help her to walk and talk more confidently. • This journey called aMUSE is all about stories. It’s also all about girls having fun trying on roles, and being a leader who stretches herself to play new parts—to be the person who turns acting into action, by inspiring others toward their best roles ever! Inspiring others for the better—that’s the story of Girl Scouts!

A WORLD A WORLD OF GIRLS!
This journey starts with the first Brownie story! Even the name “Brownies” comes from a story. Brownies were elves who did good deeds while people slept. Like fairies, they were tiny, and people usually didn’t see them. In one famous old story, a Brownie asks children to do good deeds on their own. That way people wouldn’t need the magic of Brownies during the night. The Girl Scouts make that story their own. Now Brownie Elf and Grandmother Elf encourage ordinary girls to do extraordinary things.

 AMAZING ANIMAL ADVENTURE!
Creative Expression is one of the best ways to strengthen young girls’ self-esteem. So along this journey, the Daisies create and add to three big animal-themed projects built right into the sessions. • TEAM ANIMAL can also serve as a color backdrop for the Daisy gathering. Bring it back out for the final ceremony, or present it to incoming Daisies as an invitation to this animal-filled journey. • TEAM BIRD BATH stores all the animal-care ideas the girls learn along the journey. • ALL ABOUT ME NESTS gives each girl a place to keep items that show how she cares for herself on this journey and in life.
These projects let the Daisies express themselves and experiment, lift up one another through encouragement and teamwork and have fun and let their creativity flow!
